Steph Cop – Cerebrum Structura
À l’occasion de la FIAC de Paris, Spacejunk présente Place des Vosges, la nouvelle exposition de Steph Cop, CEREBRUM STRUCTURA.
Le parcours artistique de Steph Cop débute en 1986, alors qu’il est un membre actif de la scène graffiti parisienne avec le crew C.O.P (“Children Of Paris” ou “Control Of Paris”). Après quelques années riches en expériences, l’artiste adopte le nom de Steph Cop (“Children Of Production”) et évolue en autodidacte, à la fois comme styliste, graphiste et toy designer.
En 2002, le travail de Steph Cop devient plus personnel et cinq figurines symbolisant les sujets de travail de l’artiste voient le jour. C’est la création des ARO (Analysis, Reflexe, Obsessed), amis imaginaires, qui, par la suite, accompagneront Steph Cop dans toutes ses recherches. Plus récemment et après un retour aux sources, la rencontre entre la machine et la nature a donné naissance aux Wooden ARO. Sculptés à la tronçonneuse dans différentes essences de bois (chêne, noyer, tilleul), cette nouvelle génération de ARO nous rapproche de façon plus intime du travail de Steph Cop.
CEREBRUM STRUCTURA s’inscrit dans ce même processus de création, puisqu’il s’agit, dans cette nouvelle exposition de s’immerger dans le cerveau même des “imaginery friends”!

During the FIAC in Paris, Spacejunk presents at Place des Vosges, the new exhibition of Steph Cop, CEREBRUM STRUCTURA.
Steph Cop’s history starts in 1986, as an active member of the C.O.P team (“Control Of Paris”). After some years, Steph adopts the name of Steph Cop “Children Of Production”. A name that remains a major reference in the Paris graffiti scene. Since the beginning of the nineties, Steph COP evolves in self-taught and is stylist, graphic and Toy designer.
In 2002, the artist develops A.R.O (Analysis, Reflex, Obsessed), composed of 5 eponymous figurines among each one symbolizes the essential subjects of its works. They are the five imaginary Friends. One of these characters is the icon of Steph COP’s work since his debuts.
More recently, after a return to the basics, the meeting between the machine and the nature gives birth to the Wooden AROs. Sculptured with a chainsaw in various woods (oak, walnut, limetree), the AROs were born to be spread around the world and push away the boundaries of Toy Design. His productivity and the success of his work pushes him to create new original pieces all the time with a constant research on mediums (porcelaine, wood, concrete, iron). The surprising relation there is in his Art between simplicity and complexity represents his feelings, offered as a symbolic allegory.
This new exhibition will introduce a new chapter in the Imaginery Friends history, going inside the brain of the ARO itself. A new reveal that cant be missed.
